The other day when I was at work, and my eyes hurt a lot, and I was sposed to say things in French at a meeting, I just couldn't manage to speak in French. C asked me afterwards if I wanted the CNRS to pay for French lessons, which was his way of saying, I think, that speaking in English and being unable to understand French was unacceptable.
And it's true, I really have a hard time following discussions in French. And a hard time speaking French to the people in the office, who have odd accents, are likely to start fast, and switch to English if I don't understand.
But I'm doing better with speaking, and better with understanding. When I go talk to my language partner An, as I did this morning, I feel like I understand most everything she says. Of course, she speaks slowly and doesn't use weird words, but it did give me a lot more confidence talking to her today, that I actually can speak and understand pretty well.

A pu :-p

And you will see, in a little while (?) they will not be able to say if you are French or not. I will tell you again (?) you can do it.
